Last weekend before Kilimanjaro...#

Its a busy weekend for me, making sure I have all my gear ready to climb Kilimanjaro.

There are twelve people going in all, including my friends Steve Forte, Adam Cogan, Paul Sheriff (and his wife Anne).

I've gotten awfully lazy as a traveller over the years, used to being able to buy whatever I'm missing when I get where I'm going... not so in Tanzania. So, unlike my usual behavior of packing a couple of hours before leaving, now I'm inventorying and test packing everything five days before I go. Weird.

I've decided not to bring a laptop along on the trip, but I do have my digital camera and picture dumper, so I'll be able to take lots of photos. I guess I'm going to have to bring a notebook and pen too, and write stuff down by hand along the way... at least the battery life of paper is good.

oh boy oh boy Richard. Have an awesome time. Good choice not to lug your oh-so-very-portable laptop along!

You are _climbing_ it?!? What the heck came over you that you'd want to go and do a silly thing like that? You don't get out enough? Don't they have a gondola ride or a ski lift to the top or something? Is there a really good restaurant at the summit?

And just how are you planning on coming back down?? Are going to snowboard? Slide down on llamas? (is it llamas they have there? mountain goats? mountain moose - mooses - meese?)

You have a digital camera? Then you don't need a paper and pen - you can talk into it, can't you? Audionotes and what not... little video snippets...

I am _really_ looking forward to hearing how it went... if you manage to make it back... alive... breathing... cognitive... conscious...

I can just hear it now... BOOM, TINKLE, Tinkle, tinkle... and then picking up the pieces of whatever is left and hanging it all on the nearest tree branch or set of antlers with a "for sale" sign on it.

Have fun. Climb safe. :)
